Overdraft Services
What you need to know about overdrafts
An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. Overdrafts are paid at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined. We can cover your overdrafts in different ways.
Overdraft Protection
We cover your overdrafts by transferring your money from another 1st UCU deposit account — such as your savings account — to your checking account.
Courtesy Pay
Standard Overdraft Courtesy Pay: We cover your overdrafts on the following types of transactions up to $500.00, at our discretion

ATM
Everyday debit card transactions
Why Opt-In? This program benefits you by allowing us to cover your unexpected expenses, so that you are still able to pay for your everyday purchase such as groceries, gasoline, or a needed prescription. It also saves you the embarrassment of having your purchases declined. These examples, along with many others, are reasons for utilizing this safety net.
What fees will I be charged if 1st UCU pays my overdraft?
Overdraft Protection: $2.00 fee for each transfer from your designated 1st UCU account
Overdraft Courtesy Pay: $30.00 for each time we pay an overdraft
NSF: If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined and you will be charged a fee of $30.00. Additional merchant fees may apply.
There is no limit per day on the total fees we can charge you for overdrawing your account. If an item is presented for payment multiple times, a fee will be assessed each time.
