Understanding Your Credit Card Introductory APR Period
The 6-month introductory period with a 0.00% APR on your credit card means that for the first six billing cycles (months), you won't be charged any interest on your purchases.
Here's how it works:
Introductory Period: During the 6-month period, any purchases you make will not accrue interest as long as you make at least the minimum payment on time each month. This applies to purchases made from the first month through the sixth month.
Month 6 Purchases: If you make a purchase in the sixth month, it will still be part of the 0.00% APR introductory offer. This means you won't be charged interest on that purchase until the introductory period ends.
End of Introductory Period: After the six months are up, the regular APR specified in your card agreement will kick in. This means that any balance you carry over into the seventh month (including purchases made in month six that have not been paid off) will start accruing interest at the regular rate.
Interest Charges: If you still have a balance from month six (or any prior months) after the introductory period ends, you'll start accruing interest on that balance according to the card's regular APR. This interest is typically charged on a daily basis, based on the average daily balance.
In summary, you won't start accruing interest on purchases made in month six until the 0% APR period ends after that sixth billing cycle. To avoid paying interest, you should aim to pay off your entire balance before the end of the introductory period.
